How VidScore, Sentiment, and Quality Scores Work

Your delivery feed carries several numeric metrics. They use different scales on purpose, and knowing which is which makes filtering and ranking much easier.

VidScore (video quality)

VidScore is a 0 to 10 score with one decimal of precision, floored at 1.0 and capped at 9.5. It evaluates observable qualities of a video: production value, clarity, informativeness, originality, and more. Scoring is content-type aware; a cooking tutorial and a long-form podcast are graded against different criteria, so the score reflects quality within its own format. Use VidScore to rank or filter content quality at scale. Above 7 is high quality, 5 to 7 is solid, below 5 has meaningful weaknesses.

Sentiment

Sentiment runs from -1.0 to +1.0 with one decimal and is attached to brand and product mentions. Positive values mean favorable context (praise, recommendation, satisfaction), negative values mean unfavorable context (criticism, complaint, comparison loss), zero means neutral or purely informational mention. Growth and Scale tiers also include sentiment_label (positive, neutral, negative, or mixed) and sentiment_context, a plain-English explanation of why that sentiment was assigned.

Confidence

Confidence is a 0 to 1 value attached to every extracted entity. It represents how certain the detection is. Use confidence as a filter when building pipelines; for example, drop entities below 0.7 if you want high precision over recall.

Prominence Level (Growth and Scale)

Prominence classifies how central an entity was to the video: primary subject, secondary subject, or passing mention. A product in a dedicated review is usually primary subject; a brand mentioned in passing is a passing mention.

Detailed reference

What you can expect

  • VidScore: 0 to 10, one decimal, content-type aware
  • Sentiment: -1.0 to +1.0 on brand and product mentions
  • Confidence: 0 to 1 on every extracted entity
  • Prominence Level: primary subject, secondary subject, passing mention (Growth and Scale)

Limits

  • Scores are algorithmic, not manually assigned
  • Per-viewer personalization; scores are the same for every customer

Important context

Do not compare a VidScore directly to a brand safety score, the scales mean different things. A 0 to 10 score is a quality judgment scaled for readability, a 0 to 100 score is a composite meant to be sliced into deciles. If you need a single ranking metric across mixed entity types, pick one scale and normalize the others into it before combining.
